Job Title: Construction Materials Testing Technician
Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Construction Materials Testing Technician to support our team in field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. The ideal candidate will assist with testing and documentation, ensuring compliance with project requirements, while upholding safety standards and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel) in accordance with established procedures and training.
- Communicate findings with the Project Manager, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractors regarding project requirements, testing results, and site conditions.
- Transport material samples to the laboratory with accompanying documentation for further analysis.
- Prepare, tabulate, and submit daily reports and observations in both written and digital formats to the Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean testing equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure operational readiness.
- Assist in scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites as needed.
- Ensure adherence to strict safety standards, including pre-task planning and reporting any safety concerns to management.
- Maintain quality standards for all projects and support the continuous improvement of processes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, and capable of using laptops for reporting.
- ACI certification in one or more of the following:
- Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
- Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- Certified in Radiation Safety and Nuclear Density Gauge Operation
- Successful completion of required internal safety certifications.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Certifications:
- ICC certification in categories such as Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel, Masonry, or Fireproofing.
- TxDOT 1A, 1B
- Other relevant certifications related to construction materials testing.
