We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Underground Utilities Construction Crew Hand to join our growing construction team. The successful candidate will assist in the white lining, installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utility systems such as phone, fiber, gas and electric. The position will start as a white liner position and transition into a crew hand. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various environmental conditions. The successful candidate will posess a willingness to learn new skills and a desire to grow with the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Excavation and Trenching: Assist in digging trenches and excavations for the installation and repair of underground utilities. Operate excavation equipment and hand tools as needed.
Utility Installation: Help in laying, connecting, and installing utility pipes and cables.
Pipe Handling: Carry and position pipes and other materials required for utility installation. Ensure pipes and fittings are properly aligned and secured.
Site Preparation: Prepare and maintain job sites by clearing debris, setting up safety barriers, and ensuring the area is ready for utility work.
Maintenance and Repair: Assist in the maintenance and repair of existing utility lines and conduits, including identifying and addressing issues such as breaks or blockages.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Site Clean-Up: Perform site clean-up tasks, including removing construction debris and restoring the area to its original condition after work is completed.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and according to project specifications.
Equipment Operation: Operate various hand tools and machinery used in underground utilities construction, such as backhoes, trenchers, and hydrovacs.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in construction or labor-intensive roles, especially in underground utilities, is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
Skills: Basic knowledge of construction techniques and safety practices. Ability to operate hand tools and heavy machinery is a plus.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical Ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, and digging.
Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and the ability to recognize and mitigate potential hazards on the job site.
Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors effectively.
Reliability: Punctuality and a strong work ethic with the ability to work long hours, including potential overtime or weekends as required.
