The Outside Sales Representative will have a ‘hunter’ mentality and be eager to meet new customers. The Outside Sales Representative will function as a direct sales agent for the company in the MN, IA, SD, ND areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Actively meet with and call upon existing and new potential customers to give sales presentations, product demonstrations, and training on a regular basis
- Close new product sales
- Develop and deliver customer training
- Maintain and strengthen customer relationships
- Use Salesforce to track contacts and opportunities and generate quotations
- Prepare monthly sales forecast
- Maintain a weekly calendar of activities
- Attend industry-related trade shows, symposiums, and professional association meetings
- Develop short and long-term goals and strategies for the territory
- Create and develop new customer prospect accounts while leveraging existing relationships
- Capable of conducting basic product demonstrations and presentations
- Shows eagerness to participate in sales training and development programs
- Achieves set KPIs consistently, such as call volume, client meetings, and pipeline growth
- Superior time management and project prioritization abilities are essential. Must be able to make practical decisions with minimal direction to achieve budget goals
- Self-sufficient individual with a hunter mentality
- Knowledge of liquid handling, cell culture, microbiology, and basic research lab procedures a plus
- Must be proficient with customer communication, reporting, time management and correspondence.
- Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both a diverse customer base and coworkers is critical to success
- Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing CRM tools and other sales software effectively
- Possess strong customer relationships in the region
- 1-3 years of experience selling to the scientific community
- Existing relationships within the life science and academic laboratory research field in the region
- Understanding of laboratory processes, objectives, and challenges
- Experience in the life science and basic research fields or liquid handling is a plus
- BA in a scientific discipline is also a plus
