Job Title: Oral Surgery Dental Assistant
Overview:
We are a State of the Art brand-new Oral Surgery practice in Kearny, NJ. We are looking for a Surgical Assistants to join our team!
We are looking for a skilled individual to support our team in providing high-quality dental care to our patients. As a Oral Surgery Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within the oral surgery office while delivering exceptional patient care.
We would like one full time assistant, and one part time assistant that would like to move to full time in the future as the practice grows.
Duties:
- Assist oral surgery during routine in office surgical procedures, including extractions, bone graft, implants, pathology, Intravenous anesthesia
- Perform infection control procedures to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Prepare tray setups for oral surgery procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, ordering and replenishing as needed
- Maintains control of surgical and implant inventory and associated supplies
- Handle X-rays and assist with imaging as needed, Acquired diagnostic x-rays (Panoramic x-ray and CBCT scans)
- Conduct patient assessments and document medical history
- Participates in monitoring, assistance with anesthesia/sedation and intravenous fluids during surgery.
- Reviews pre-op and post-op instructions with patients.
- Full understanding of dental equipment and OSHA requirements
-Utilize DSN software for patient records and scheduling
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Support with office administrative tasks and front desk duties
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure efficient patient care
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in dental/oral surgery assisting or related field preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese (preferred)
- Proficiency in DSN software is a plus
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and oralsurgery/dentistry practices
- Ability to assist efficiently during procedures and provide patient comfort
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in assisting with oral surgery procedures
- Familiarity with X-Ray operations and imaging techniques
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and compliance
- Proficiency in Epic software for healthcare management
Experience and Education Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1 years of experience in a dental/oral surgery office
License and Certification Minimum Requirements
- Current CPR certification (Required).
- Current Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license for the state of New Jersey (Required).
- Current Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) license holder (Preferred).
Range: Based on experience
