We are a mixed vegetable farm that uses no agricultural chemicals and very little machinery. We grow 50 different types of crops seasonally to be sold at farmers' markets throughout western Oregon. We value hard work, good vibes, and work-life balance.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee daily operations on our farm. This includes ensuring that the harvest and planting schedules are followed and assisting with irrigation activities. The supervisor will frequently be working along with the crew. The ideal candidate will have experience with organic farming and a willingness to do hard physical labor when needed. This frequently includes bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting, and generally working up a good sweat. This role requires leadership skills to ensure a positive and collaborative working environment and the ability to train and oversee farm workers.
The season runs from mid-February through mid-November with 3 months off in the winter.
Duties
- Supervise and participate in daily farm operations, including harvesting, planting, and irrigating.
- Ensure that staff are allocated to various tasks for maximum efficiency.
- Train and mentor farm staff.
- Maintain accurate records of farm activities.
- Attend farmers' markets as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in farming or agricultural management.
- Familiarity with greenhouse operations is a plus.
- Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead a motivated and engaged team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
