The Vibrant Life Director (Activity Director) is responsible for the on-site organizing, planning, facilitating, and directing the overall operations of the Vibrant Life Department in accordance with current standards, guidelines and regulations, company policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Executive Director to assure that an ongoing program of Vibrant Life activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident. The Vibrant Life Director (Activity Director) is also responsible for developing wellness programs for families to meet their identified needs and conducting staff in-services. Hire, evaluate, coordinate, monitor performance, and supervise department staff in accordance with company policy. Make recommendations to the Executive Director with respect to staff evaluations, merit pay increases, reprimands, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Responsibilities :
- Provide a creative social atmosphere throughout the community and promote resident and family participation through regularly scheduled events, activities, special programs, and guest speakers.
- Coordinate and attend all special functions and Vibrant Life activity programs for major holidays.
- Ensure activities acknowledge and meet the cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity and interests of the residents and their families.
- Meet with each new resident within thirty (30) days of move-in to ensure completion of the “Story of a Lifetime.”
- Ensure compliance with all Federal (Title 22) and state regulations concerning the department.
- Encourage resident participation in all Vibrant Life activities.
- Engage in residents’ activities by personally leading Vibrant Life activities for no less than ten (10) hours per week.
- Hire, evaluate, coordinate, motivate, and supervise department staff in accordance with company policy and department budget.
- Monitor compliance with the department’s budget through the effective and timely completion of Monthly Spend Downs.
- Ensure compliance with company policy for proper use of Petty Cash.
- Complete vendor / entertainer check requests accurately and timely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Plan, schedule, prepare, and conduct staff in-services as directed.
- Coordinate transportation needs of the residents and maintain transportation schedules for all Vibrant Life events and appointments.
- Possess the ability, licensure, and willingness to drive the community van.
- Stay current regarding senior activities through continuing education courses and networking opportunities.
- Support the Executive Director in referral source development efforts and assist with marketing events.
- Develop, implement, and manage a “New Resident Welcome” program.
- Develop, implement, and manage a “Resident Birthday” program.
- Recruit, manage, and schedule Community Volunteers and maintain required logs and paperwork.
- Ensure that a Resident Council Meeting is held each month.
- Perform all clerical work connected with the position accurately and timely.
- Assist with the setup of special events.
- Aid in community marketing efforts through conducting community tours and participating in marketing events.
- Arrange for coverage of job duties during employee absences.
- Report all known or suspected incidents of resident abuse as a mandated reporter.
- Participate in daily “Stand-Up” meetings to communicate key issues.
- Obtain and maintain all state-required certifications / licensures.
- Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications :
CALIFORNIA –
Must have at least six (6) months experience in providing planned activities or be enrolled in an appropriate education or training program.
Must have one (1) year of experience in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating residents’ needs, supervising other employees, and training volunteers.
