Cloud Solution Architect III
Location: Charleston, SC
Clearance: Active Secret
The Cloud Architect supports the Enterprise Engineering and Integration Services (E2IS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) transition and/or modernization support services to migrate legacy systems from their current hosting environments for the Cloud Engineering, Transition, and Modernization Support Services to Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic).
Support includes gathering requirements and desiging Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions. Architecting and planning migrations to commercial cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Perform in a supervisory or technical lead cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud platforms.
- Perform in a supervisory or technical leadrole on a team of architects leading the design and recommendations. A Cloud Solution Architect 3 generally does not perform the actual implementation of the solution.
- Perform the following types of tasks
o Work with end users and application experts to elicit requirements for designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud based systems
o Lift and shift planning for an existing on-premises application to cloud based systems
o Ingress and egress planning for data migration to and from cloud based systems
o Select the appropriate cloud service based on data, compute, database, or security requirements
o Integrate with on-premises enterprise networks and systems
o Identify appropriate use of cloud architectural best practices
o Estimate cloud costs and identifying cost control mechanisms
o Provide tasking and oversight over other technical members of the team performing the design and architecture
o Provide technical clarity and direction to Cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS Consultants
o Review final work products for correctness and adherence to design concepts.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems)- Possess Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
- Ten (10) years with Master’s or fourteen (14) years with Bachelor’s degree of professional experience with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area.
- Have experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and notable experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.
- Certifications: Obtain and maintain an industry recognized applicable Cloud Computing vendor architecture certification.
