Whether dealing primarily with individual or group plans, the Health Benefits Account Manager is the service link between the insurance agency, client, HR department, and the carriers represented by the agency. You will be managing group health plans for Small Businesses
Responsibilities
- Build rapport with Business Architects, Account Managers, clients, HR personnel, and insurance company personnel.
- Regularly provide consistent support and constructive feedback to Business Architects, Account Managers, carriers, and management to promote efficient, error-free service to our customers.
- Communicate repeated errors by carriers or other personnel to the Team Lead.
- Ensure that any and all requests for new hires and terminations are processed.
- Answer clients’ questions about their coverages, billing, or policy status, and update policy information in BenefitPoint as needed.
- Follow-up on customer inquiries that are not immediately resolved.
- Collect complete underwriting information from walk-in / telephone prospects.
- Input client and underwriting information into the applicable software and / or applications.
- Learn company underwriting guidelines to quote new and renewal business accurately.
- Gather census information, completed applications, carrier rates, etc., to support business architects in creating new business.
- Utilize software and Internet sites to gather pertinent information from the client / employee to assist in the front-line underwriting of new business and renewal plans.
- Conduct regular renewal reviews, according to agency procedures, to improve retention and sell additional coverages (cross-selling and account rounding). Also, to prevent any E & O situations.
- Maintain records on policy changes and detailed activities with set suspense to follow up.
- Submit completed backlog report to management weekly.
- Assist in taking care of all Integrated client phone calls, transferring to the appropriate party when necessary, and serving as backup to the receptionist as needed.
- Attend service and / or sales meetings as needed.
- Assist in training new employees.
