This role supports the execution of wet lab bench experiments and data analysis for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and quantitative PCR (qPCR) component reagent development as well as sustainment activities within the R&D team.
You will have opportunities to learn how to apply your scientific knowledge and NGS technologies to address specific scientific questions and to develop commercial products by working with a dynamic and highly skilled team.
The Research Scientist II role is located in Coralville, Iowa and will be onsite. You will perform wet bench experiments, data analysis and reporting, formulate conclusions with minimum to moderate oversight, identify key issues, and work with others to solve problems using critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform wet bench experiments, data analysis and reporting
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports for internal use
- Interact with and assist other members of the VAV team or other internal departments as needed to meet research objectives
- Present information at group meetings
- Lead or participate in the maintenance of laboratory and equipment
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Bioscience, Bioengineering, Chemistry or a related life sciences field
- 3 years hands-on wet bench relevant lab in academic or industry experience required, OR Master's degree with 1 year of experience
- Knowledge of basic science and solid laboratory skills needed to execute bench experiments using a variety of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemical and general laboratory techniques
- Ability to plan experimental details with minimum to moderate oversight and the ability to execute assigned wet benchwork experiments with minimum oversight
- Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Preferred Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience in cell culture, qPCR assays and NGS library preparation
- Experience with statistical analysis
- Knowledge of GLP, Design Control, and evaluation of products within a regulated environment
