Salary Range: 45.10 To 62.02 (USD) Hourly
Summary:Assist in the administrative supervision of the department and oversees operations. Supervises staff and monitors performance. Ensures that hospital and departmental policies and procedures are consistently followed and observed by all laboratory staff. Prepares work schedules for laboratory personnel and addresses any schedule changes or staffing problems. Participates in the personnel functions for laboratory employees(i.e. hiring, disciplinary action, grievances, discharge, evaluations.) Assist in establishment, preparation, and maintenance of routine department records and reports as required in a timely manner. Provides on-site supervision of high complexity tests in accordance with applicable regulations. Monitors criteria for the immediate notification of the practitioner responsible for the patient, when critical limits of specified test results are exceeded; supervises implementation of corrective actions as required. Attends and conducts all necessary meetings and communicates information to staff and administration. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal regulations and Joint Commission Standards. Demonstrates knowledge in all areas of the Laboratory: histology, biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, serology, cytology, and blood bank. Establishes and maintains a system to check the accuracy of tests and test results. Demonstrates ability to review test results to ensure quality control. Coordinates Laboratory Proficiency Testing Program for all tests performed. Monitors all equipment use and function. Follows appropriate protocol in initiation and coordination of equipment repair. Assures that the preventative maintenance schedules of equipment are followed. Maintains and oversees department quality control program. Monitors and maintains adequate inventory of all laboratory department material supplies. Assumes primary responsibility for orientation, training and in-service of laboratory employees. RequirementsMinimum Experience: Six (6) years as a Clinal Laboratory Scientist in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
