Salary Range: 21 To 26.87 (USD) Hourly
SUMMARYThe incumbent will be responsible for fulfilling myriad administrative duties in front office, including billing support, scheduling, coding, patient communication and filing. REQUIREMENTS RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Maintain medical charts and schedule appointments for staff.Perform routine medical data clerical tasks.Verify patient's health insurance coverage.Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.Serves and protects the medical practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.Answer multi-line phone system and take appointments or direct calls to the appropriate partyGreet patients when they arrive at the office and provide them with any necessary paperwork or other informationCollect co-pays and other fees required prior to the office visit or treatmentDirect patients to the lab area for scheduled blood work and other testingVerify insurance coverage and assist the billing department with processing claimsSchedule appointments and confirm appointments two days in advanceAssist patients with re-scheduling appointments and other scheduling issuesCommunicate test results to patients when directed by physicians or nursing professionalsInform patients of credit card declines and other billing issuesPerforms other duties as requested.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Medical Assistant Certificate preferred SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:Must be familiar with EHR/EMR system.Excellent verbal and written communication skills Minimum of 6 months of experience is preferredSpanish bilingual is a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Body Positions: Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.Body Movements: Arm and hand dexterity.Body Senses: Must have command of close and distant sight, color perception and hearing.Strength: Ability to lift and move up to 25-pounds. Working Environment: Work in an office, where the climate is controlledOccasional travel between medical groups and/or hospitals when necessary. 0-25 % of the time.OSHA exposure category: ICategory I – Position includes tasks that involve exposure to Blood borne Pathogens.Category II – Position includes tasks that do not have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, however employment may require unplanned Category I tasks.Category III – Positions includes tasks that do not involve exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. This position would not be required to perform Category I tasks.
