What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Estimator position at Integrated Machinery Solutions?
The Equipment Estimator is responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings related to custom material handling equipment projects, ensuring that they know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. The Equipment Estimator will work with the sales and engineering teams to ensure that bids meet the customer’s requirements. The Equipment Estimator will report to and train under the Vice President of Sales.
Responsibilities:
- Determine project requirements from the sales inquiry and specifications.
- Solicit and maintain communication with vendors.
- Transmit specifications and other bid information to vendors.
- Ensure proper quotes from vendors.
- Negotiate best pricing from vendors.
- Review bid requirements and asks follow-up questions if necessary.
- Include value-engineering ideas on every bid.
- Perform vendor interactions in the interest of developing and maintaining long term relationships.
- Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams to ensure that estimates remain competitive, utilizing lessons learned from previous projects.
- Research and maintain technological excellence within the work environment.
- Develop creative solutions to complex challenges.
- Create, maintain, and update databases to track material and manufacturing costs, ensuring current and accurate pricing.
- Develop preliminary product designs to generate accurate cost estimates that meet specifications and application needs.
- Produce proposals for customers based on estimated costs.
- Establish and communicate guidelines for various applications, ensuring consistency across the organization.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities):
- 2 years prior Estimator experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be competent in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be familiar with interpreting engineering drawings.
- Must be familiar with the purpose and use of ERP systems.
- Familiarity with heavy industrial machinery or material handling products.
- Must be self-motivated and punctual.
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills both internally and externally.
- Familiarity with machine and fabrication process.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college.
- Mechanical and/or Structural background.
- Familiarity with overhead crane systems.
- Familiarity with Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA) specifications for overhead cranes.
- Machinery design or manufacturing experience a plus.
- Familiarity with design and manufacturing of material handling equipment such as cranes, hoists, and below the hook devices.
- Familiarity with EPICOR and/or Visual EstiTrack.
