We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Machine Shop Trainer/Machinist Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of experience in machining, with a strong background in both CNC and Manual Lathe/Mill operations. This role demands a leader who can work independently and take on a leadership position to train and mentor our team of machinist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Deliver Training: Create and conduct hands-on training programs for machinists on CNC lathes and Mills and Manual Lathes and Mills and other equipment, ensuring a competency-based and updated curriculum.
- Lead by Example: Demonstrate best machining practices, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Supervise Apprentices: Oversee daily apprentice activities, ensuring machining tasks meet design specifications, tolerances, and safety regulations.
- Ensure Safety Compliance: Maintain adherence to all safety regulations within the machine shop.
- Read and Interpret Drawings: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure machining tasks adhere to design specifications.
- Proficient Use of Tools: Skillfully use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and maintain quality standards.
- Implement Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks and uphold quality assurance practices to ensure adherence to standards and specifications,
- Instructional Excellence: Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction, develop course syllabi, and facilitate student learning using innovative techniques.
- Maintain Records and Environment: Fulfill assigned schedules, maintain accurate student records, and ensure a safe instructional environment.
- Student Advisement and Recruitment: Provide career guidance, participate in recruitment events, assist in program planning, and enrollment, exhibiting courteous behavior towards all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minium 10 years of experience in a machine shop environment.
- Extensive experience with CNC machines and manual lathes/mills.
- Proficient in CNC programming and G-code.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineer drawings.
- Proficient in using measurement tools, such as calipers, micrometer, and gauges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or formal education in CNC Machining or relevant field.
- Experience in lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software
