Job Summary

The Metal Shop Specialist will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment to create custom metal commercial doors.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
• Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
• Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
• Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
• Identifies opportunities for productivity improvement and cost reduction.
• Complies with all safety and environmental requirements and reports all discrepancies to management.
• Regular and reliable attendance at job site is required.
• Any other duties as assigned.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a Welder.
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.).
• Strong understanding of detailed architectural drawings, schematics, shop drawings, and blueprints.
• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Desire to keep work area clean and maintain equipment.
• Ability to work efficiently with little direct instructions.
• Extreme attention to detail
• Completion of a professional certification in welding.
  
  

High school degree or equivalent required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• May require supervisory responsibilities.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
• Must have enough manual ability and stability as required for precision work
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures and wet/humid weather.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and maintain focus.
