Medical Reimbursement Specialist

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Medical Reimbursement Specialist to join our billing team whose focus is to deliver quality services and maximize reimbursement for our clients through quality, specialized billing and effective revenue cycle management. Candidates with pathology knowledge are highly desired.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs complete and accurate billing & collections to assure policies, guidelines and protocols are being adhered to while obtaining optimum efficiencies in a cost-effective manner. Establishes priorities and consistently meets required deadlines.
Striving for complete accuracy, obtains maximum reimbursement for all billable services in order to provide optimal customer satisfaction to all clients and patients.
Communicates effectively with patients, physicians’ offices, hospital personnel and all IPMS staff to build and maintain positive business relationships.
Cross-trained to perform all billing and collections functions to assure that team is fully staffed at all times. Works collectively with all members of the team as well as all IPMS employees to ensure production goals are consistently being met.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes explanation of benefits (EOB’s) to detect payment discrepancies and payer trends to determine appropriate follow-up, i.e., resubmissions, adjustments and refunds.
- Researches account activity based on analysis reports, denial reports, and correspondence resulting in additional follow- up with patients, insurance carriers and referring physicians, etc. within an outlined timeframe as set forth by management. Properly utilizes internet to research account activity with insurance carriers.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians’ offices, hospital personnel and all IPMS staff to build and maintain positive business relationships. Heavy phone volume
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Comfort with software applications including but not limited to Medical Billing Software Applications, EMR software, Microsoft Office, including Excel. Proficient with internet.
- Solid knowledge of managed care, commercial, and Federal/State agencies required. Must be proficient in all areas of billing and collections and must be able to jump into production in order to meet production goals for the team

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
