We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Ranch Hand with extensive experience in handling colts, studs, and the overall care of horses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horse care, training, and ranch maintenance while demonstrating a passion for equine welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle and care for colts, studs, and mature horses, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Assist in training young horses, including groundwork and saddle work.
- Feed, water, and monitor the nutritional needs of all horses.
- Clean stalls, barns, and other horse-related facilities.
- Administer basic veterinary care, including wound treatment and medication administration as needed.
- Maintain fencing, barns, and other ranch structures to ensure a safe environment.
- Assist with breeding operations and monitor the behavior of stallions and mares.
- Handle horses for farriers, veterinarians, and other specialists.
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment, including tractors, trailers, and ATVs.
- Follow all ranch safety protocols and ensure proper handling techniques.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with horses, including colts and studs.
- Strong knowledge of horse behavior, training methods, and health care.
- Ability to handle and work with young, spirited, or difficult horses safely.
- Experience with general ranch work, including fencing, feeding, and facility maintenance.
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Familiarity with breeding operations and stud management is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required; ability to operate ranch vehicles and trailers preferred.
