Position Summary:
The Director of Health Services In Training (DHS-IT) is a developmental role designed for a Nurse seeking to gain the necessary experience and skills to advance into the role of Director of Health Services. Under the guidance of the Regional Director of Health Services, the DHS-IT will receive hands-on training in all aspects of health services management, including regulatory compliance, resident care, staff supervision, financial oversight, and operational leadership.

The DHS-IT role is designed as a stepping stone into the Director of Health Services position. Upon successful completion of the training program and demonstration of competency in health services leadership, the DHS-IT may transition into a full Director role within the organization.

Under the guidance of the Regional Director of Health Services, the DHS-IT will receive hands-on training in all aspects of health services management, including regulatory compliance, resident care, staff supervision, financial oversight, and operational leadership.
Essential Responsibilities:
Training & Development
- Participate in a structured training program designed to provide knowledge and skills in managing health services within an assisted living and memory care environment.
- Shadow and assist the Director of Health Services or Director of Memory Care in daily operations, decision-making, and strategic planning.
- Attend leadership meetings, regulatory training, and compliance workshops.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to health services.
- Support the development and implementation of care plans, assessments, and documentation for residents.
- Observe and participate in care coordination meetings, resident evaluations, and family communications.
- Learn the fundamentals of staff recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Participate in new staff orientation and ongoing training initiatives.
- Support department heads in ensuring staff adherence to policies and procedures.
- Gain exposure to budget planning, financial reporting, and cost management within the department.
- Assist in tracking expenditures, staffing budgets, and operational costs.
- Learn strategies for maintaining financial efficiency while ensuring quality resident care.
- Support the Director of Health Services and Director of Memory Care in ensuring smooth community health operations.
- Assist in coordinating with outside vendors and healthcare providers for resident needs.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and incident response training.
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with an active license in the state of Texas.
- Two years of experience in geriatric nursing or long-term care, preferred .
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desire to advance into a leadership role.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology systems.
- Ability to move throughout the community promptly, especially in emergency situations.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and up to 150 lbs. with assistance.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Must be willing to travel through the Houston metroplex
- Must be available for occasional weekend, evening, and holiday shifts.
