Disease Intervention Specialist 1

This contractor will work as a Disease Intervention Specialist/Public Health Rep 4 alongside existing STI staff to ensure interviews, partner services, testing and re-testing of patients and partners are conducted and ensure case is treated appropriately.

STI rates have increased year over year for the last five years in TN, including particularly concerning increases in gonorrhea (74%), syphilis (62%), and congenital syphilis (> 300%).

These increases in STI illnesses have increased the need for staff to conduct quality STI investigation and partner services in our regional and local health departments.

This position is requested to assist the MCR STI staff with such activities to prevent and control infectious disease.

This contractor would be expected to complete the minimum trainings required of a Client 1 within their first 6 months of employment and should specifically complete the online modules for Passport to Partner Services prior to conducting partner services activities. Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in social work or other related field.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time professional health program field experience as a disease specialist that has completed “ISTDI” or “Passport to Partner Services” Client training that involves investigation, prevention, or treatment of individuals with communicable diseases may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
