Fire Protection Engineer

- Per Diem: ***/day 700/week
- Candidate will need to be on site based on project/team need, all candidates must be willing to come on site
- Training and experience with relevant industry, state, and local fire code requirements
- Fire Protection System Design experience
- Experience completing reviews independently
- What soft skill requirements do you have (team fit and personality requirements)?
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to lead, collaborate, or work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
- Nice to Have Skills:
- Preference for candidates with nuclear design quals but will consider candidates with relevant fire protection system design experience and/or previous design qualifications and be willing to assist establishing a current design development qualification (certification)
- Previous experience with Simplex FP systems is a plus
- Fire protection system troubleshooting experience a plus
- Possess or meet the eligibility requirements for Grade of Professional Member of Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).
- High Level Project Overview:
- Perform subcontractor FP System new install design reviews
- Facilitate Commonwealth of VA, Local county staff design document reviews
- Perform in-process walkdowns to ensure compliance with all Commonwealth/Louisa County Codes
- Support Commonwealth of VA/Louisa County inspector walkdowns
- Augment North Anna Fire Protection System Engineer work backlog: Monitoring installed FP System performance, support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, emergent FP system performance troubleshooting
- Required Years of Experience:
- 10 years of related experience.
- Experience as a fire protection engineer at a major commercial, industrial, or nuclear facility with a strong background in fire suppression and fire alarm system design.
- Education:
- Minimum of Bachelor in Science
- BS or MS degree in fire protection engineering from an accredited university or college
- Are there any specific companies/industries you’d like to see in the candidate’s experience?
- Candidate can come from any industry but should have experience in their companies fire protection team/department
