Overview :
Client is looking to expand the team supporting our Sustainability portfolio businesses. A pillar of WM's sustainability strategy is the capture of landfill gas for beneficial use applications and the generation of renewable energy. WM is in the process of rapidly scaling our Renewable Energy business where we are building 20 new Renewable Natural Gas plants on our landfills and implementing several digital technologies, including an Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) platform. We seek an experienced Agile Scrum Master to join our team. As a Scrum Master, you will facilitate and coordinate Agile Scrum processes within our organization, ensuring the company can work collaboratively and efficiently to delivery high-quality solutions.
Job Summary
As a Scrum Master you will be a key member of the Agile development team. You will work closely with the Product Owner, Program Managers, Product Development team, 3rd party consultants and vendors to ensure that the work progresses on schedule, within budget, and to the desired level of quality. Additionally, you will serve as a coach and mentor to our team - helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that the team is meeting its objectives consistently. You will enable and enforce Agile development practices and be responsible for developing and maintaining processes embedded in the SCRUM framework, including facilitating team interactions during SCRUM ceremonies, removing impediments, , and enforcing the optimal use of tools / processes / cadences - including Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives while focusing on improving team effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate and coordinate Agile Scrum processes within the company
Guide and coach the team on Agile Scrum principles and practices (i.e. self-organization)
Ensure the team works collaboratively and efficiently to deliver high quality products
Works with the Product Owner to prioritize the backlog
Encourages meeting objectives without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
Facilitates discussions and decision-making, and is responsible for mitigating and solving impediments
Provides support using a servant leadership style whenever possible, leading by example, and demonstrating value-add principles
Key Activities :
Facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives
Identify and troubleshoot obstacles that are blocking the team's progress
Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback sessions
Communicate project status, risks and issues to stakeholders
Bring the right Stakeholders together to achieve Sprint objectives
Ensure visibility and common understanding across the team
Help team adhere to "Definition of Ready" and "Definition of Done" norms
Own Sprint metrics, e.g. calculate and present burndown charts, develop trending and tracking models for metrics, and analyze burn down issues to find root causes
Ensure delivery efficiency and maintains focus

Education and Experience
Education : Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study
Work Experience : 8 years of relevant work experience
Certification : Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI ACP) or SAFe Certification)
Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
Strong knowledge of Agile Scrum principles and practices
Ability to lead and facilitate Scrum ceremonies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Prior knowledge and experience with Agile project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence
