About the Job:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our educational institution as a Technology Education Instructor and Support Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching technology skills to students in grades K-8 and providing technical support as a basic technician. Your expertise and enthusiasm will play a vital role in shaping the technological literacy and proficiency of our students while ensuring the smooth operation of our technology infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Technology Education Instruction:
- Develop and deliver engaging and age-appropriate technology education lessons for students in grades K-8, covering various topics such as computer fundamentals, coding, digital citizenship, multimedia creation, and emerging technologies.
- Utilize effective teaching strategies, resources, and technology tools to enhance student learning and promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, catering to students' individual needs and learning styles.
- Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and assess their technological knowledge and skills.
Technology Basic Technician:
- Assist in the setup and configuration of computers, peripherals, audiovisual equipment, and other technology devices.
- Collaborate with the IT department or external vendors to resolve complex technical problems and escalate issues when necessary.
- Keep up-to-date with technological advancements, educational software, and hardware, and make recommendations for technology upgrades and improvements.
Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
- Enforce technology-related policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote responsible and ethical technology use among students.
- Manage and organize technology resources, software licenses, and other educational materials effectively.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to integrate technology effectively into the curriculum and support cross-curricular projects.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress, technology initiatives, and upcoming events.
- Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and workshops to enhance teaching and technical skills.
STEM Instruction:
- Design and deliver hands-on, inquiry-based STEM lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity among students through engaging in STEM activities and projects.
- Introduce students to various STEM fields, careers, and real-world applications to foster their interest and understanding.
- Utilize STEM tools, equipment, and resources to facilitate active learning and experimentation.
- Support and mentor students in STEM competitions, projects, and clubs, fostering their enthusiasm for STEM subjects.
STEM Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with the curriculum development team to create and enhance STEM curriculum and instructional materials aligned with national or state standards.
- Stay updated with current trends, advancements, and best practices in STEM education, incorporating them into the curriculum.
- Conduct assessments and analyze student data to evaluate the effectiveness of STEM lessons and make data-driven instructional decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, computer science, information technology, or a related field (relevant certifications or experience will also be considered).
- Prior experience in teaching technology education to K-8 students, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of technology concepts, computer hardware, software applications, and operating systems.
- Proficiency in educational software, multimedia tools, and online learning platforms.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address basic technical issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and staff members.
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for technology education and its potential impact on students.
