What are the responsibilities and job description for the On-Call Peer Recovery and Outreach Coach position at Integrated Services of Kalamazoo?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to work on-call as a Peer Recovery and Outreach Coach with the Opioid Overdose Response Team.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Peer Recovery and Outreach Coach on our Opioid Overdose Response Team you will see individuals in local ER's and community settings who have experienced an overdose or a substance related crisis. You will help provide 24/7 on-call coverage to the Kalamazoo community and will work together with a patient navigator to track and link individuals with treatment and community services. A knowledge of the social service system in Kalamazoo and a willingness to be part of a culturally responsive team-based approach to care are necessary for this job. This is a contingent, on-call position, shifts vary and will fall primarily outside of the typical 8am-5pm business hours. This is a grant funded position through 9/30/25.
What We Require
You will have a High School diploma or GED with one to two years’ experience working in a peer capacity as well as being a Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Coach or being eligible for same. You will have lived experiences with addiction and knowledge of self-determination principles and person-centered planning processes. You’ll have a valid Michigan driver’s license with reliable transportation. You’ll have basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail along with basic knowledge in the use of electronic office equipment, including copy and fax machines. Bilingual or bicultural community membership is preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
