Our client, a prestigious Glens Falls law firm is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join their dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in law office operations with specialized experience in matrimonial law and transactional matters. The role will involve supporting attorneys with client matters, document preparation, case management, and ensuring the smooth operation of legal tasks. The position is full time and on-site. The pay rate will be based on experience. The range will be approximately $54,000-$57,000.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, legal research, and drafting documents for matrimonial cases, including divorce, child custody, alimony, and prenuptial agreements.
  • Prepare, review, and organize transactional documents for real estate, business, or corporate transactions, including contracts, leases, and purchase agreements.
  • Manage client files and maintain case management systems, ensuring all documents are current and properly organized.
  • Conduct legal research on family law and transactional law matters as directed by the attorney.
  • Handle the preparation and filing of court documents, including pleadings and discovery in both matrimonial and transactional matters.
  • Assist in coordinating and scheduling meetings, hearings, and other legal appointments.
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary information, provide status updates, and answer general inquiries.
  • Support attorneys with the preparation of trial materials, including exhibits and evidence for matrimonial and transactional cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information and ensure compliance with office protocols and legal standards.

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of law office experience, with a focus on matrimonial law and transactional law.
  • Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field, or paralegal certification from an accredited program preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of family law principles and transactional legal procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor with clients, attorneys, and staff.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Knowledge of local court rules and filing procedures for matrimonial and transactional matters.
