We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled z / OS Systems Programmer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience working with z / OS systems, and the ability to work independently on projects with limited direction. As a z / OS Systems Programmer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing all aspects of our z / OS environment, including the planning and procurement of new equipment to meet organizational needs.
This is a full-time role working regular business hours on site while NYS legislature is in session (Jan-Jun). Jun-Dec there is a possibility for some remote work on a hybrid schedule which is discretionary. This role comes with it's own large private office located in a beautiful building in Albany. Free parking onsite. Regular work hours will be 9-5.
Key Responsibilities :
- System Maintenance & Optimization : Install, configure, and maintain z / OS environments to ensure optimal system performance, availability, and reliability.
- Project Management : Take initiative in planning, designing, and implementing new systems, upgrades, and system enhancements. Lead efforts to procure and deploy new hardware as needed.
- Software Management : Work with z / OS-related products, including but not limited to DFSMS, RACF, VTAM, TCP / IP, JES2, VPS, and BMC Mainview.
- Problem Resolution : Proactively monitor and troubleshoot system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and addressing complex system problems.
- Security Management : Implement and manage system security measures, focusing on RACF administration, user access, and compliance.
- Collaboration : Work closely with other teams to integrate z / OS with various systems and technologies within the enterprise.
- Documentation & Reporting : Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations, procedures, and processes. Provide regular system performance reports and improvement recommendations.
