What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Technician position at Integrated Steel, Inc?
DESCRIPTION
The Assembly Technician is an entry-level role that framing experience is preferred, but not required. Working in teams of 2-4, Assembly Technicians interpret established construction plans and assemble manufactured steel studs into complete wall/ceiling panels. It is essential that all safety protocols are followed while achieving accuracy, quality, and time-sensitive objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret established construction plans
- Organize materials at work station
- Ensure materials meet established quality standards
- Accurately use basic measuring devices
- Prepare items for shipment including crating and documentation
- Practice good housekeeping daily
- Follow safety guidelines and always wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to, steel/composite toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, and ear plugs
- Operate required equipment per safety guidelines, upon proper certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
- Framing experience in steel or wood is preferred
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude
- Must be able to routinely lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to occasionally lift and maneuver 100 pounds using team lifts, proper lifting techniques, and equipment upon proper certification
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, sit, bend, squat, kneel, twist, crouch, crawl, and reach for long periods of time in a manufacturing shop setting
- Must have reliable transportation and be punctual for shift work
- Ability to multitask and communicate clearly any questions or issues concerning the assembly process
- Must be dependable, organized, professional and able to follow instructions
- Able to work in a team environment or individually with minimal supervision
- Able to read English and understand the panel layout prints for assembly
- General carpentry skills are preferred
- Basic knowledge of hand tools/power tools specifically oriented to steel fabrication (hand grinder, tin snips, nibblers, hand drills, etc.) is preferred
