ITS is working with a leader in manufacturing components for the aerospace, defense, and space industries to find a Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. The Mechanical Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring precision and efficiency in manufacturing processes. Candidates will be responsible for developing detailed manufacturing methods, preparing accurate cost estimates, and providing process engineering support to production teams. This position requires proficiency in CAD tools, CNC programming, and a strong understanding of machine tool capabilities.
Location: Winsted, CT Responsibilities:Develop manufacturing methods and sequences, design fixtures, identify raw materials, and coordinate work with local vendors.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for precision-machined components, with a significant focus on estimating quotes.
Provide process engineering support to production, ensuring accurate and comprehensive manufacturing process documentation.
Establish time standards for shop tasks.
Input routing data into the database to calculate required process times and document detailed manufacturing procedures.
Utilize GD&T, technical drawings, Siemens NX, MasterCam, or similar tools.
Create blueprints using CAD software (such as CadKey or AutoCAD) for vendor use and to develop fixtures and manufacturing processes.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of machine tools and their capabilities for precision component manufacturing.
Experience in programming CNC machines, as well as production and tool room operations, is a plus.
Proficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings, technical journals, and related documents.
Ability to address inquiries or concerns from employees, regulatory agencies, or business stakeholders.
