POSITION SUMMARY
The Front Office Receptionist primary responsibility is to provide an excellent patient experience to everyone who corresponds with our practice. The Front Office position is responsible for patient scheduling and appointment management, checkin and checkout of virtual and in-office visits, answering and directing phone calls, and keeping patient charts updated and accurate. This team member will also facilitate appropriate insurance verification and collection of copays and balances. They will additionally ensure that the facility is clean, presentable, and sanitary. This front office position will be cross-trained in multiple administrative support functions.
- General clerical duties
- Patient scheduling, reminders, and follow-up
- Appointment check-in and check-out
- Assistance with incoming and outgoing referrals
- Insurance verification
- External communication with providers and facilities via phone and fax
- Collections and general account review
- Product sales and inventory management
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
- At least 18yo and legally allowed to work in USA
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) year clerical experience in medical office setting required. Three (3) or more years preferred.
- Efficiently uses Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Minimum 40 WPM.
- Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Must have a current Tuberculosis (TB) skin test upon employment and provide an update annually.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to be professional, courteous, and compassionate to our patients and visitors at all times.
- Excellent telephone manners and etiquette derived from experience with customer relations.
- Ability to prioritize duties, perform them efficiently, and to maintain flexibility.
- Excellent skills in spelling and grammar.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of front office procedures including scheduling, insurance, database management, and collections.
- Knowledge of various insurance plans such as Medicaid, Medicare and private insurances.
- Ability to work efficiently and comfortably with other medical clinic employees.
- Ability to complete assigned projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of the cultural and social backgrounds of the variable population groups.
- Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
