Mail Operations Service Support: The mail function receives, processes, distributes, and/or sends out incoming and outgoing USPS and express mail for approximately 16,000 DOL employees in the FPB. The mail function also handles interoffice mail within government headquarters elements in the greater Washington, DC area. Mail related tasks to be covered under this contract include:
a. Receiving incoming USPS mail, express mail, freight, messenger items, and newspapers from FPB loading dock, all of which arrive at different times within the workday;
b. Sorting mail into the mail bins/slots located in the mailroom. Sorting other items as required;
c. Researching all incomplete or incorrectly addressed incoming mail for delivery to the correct DOL employee and/or offices in the FPB;
d. Accepting receipt of accountable mail using a web (cloud) based tracking system;
e. Processing outgoing mail, which includes weighing and metering mail. Mail clerk personnel must be familiar with the operations and functions of a commercial mail meter equipment in addition to on-line postage applications. Must be able to compare mail rates for USPS and UPS to determine lowest cost in the quickest time frame to reduce overhead.
f. Processing confidential bin requests by delivering, picking up, and emptying bins;
g. Conducting a basic inventory of mail supplies and ensuring that supplies are adequate to complete daily work activities;
h. Performing administrative duties related to mail, including data entry into electronic systems, verifying expenditures, completing and filing paperwork;
i. Providing customer service related to mail, which includes assisting customers with the mail process, responding to specific agency expenditure request, answering phones, taking messages, notifying customers of returned mail, providing customers with mail supplies;
j. Completing daily mail runs by delivering official government mail, interoffice mail, and other items to employees in FPB in accordance with established timeframes. Mail runs occur twice daily and are spread over six floors in the USDOL/Francis Perkins Building (FPB);
k. Completing work in accordance with procedures and guidelines established by the
Government;
Minimum requirements include the following: High School diploma and two (2) years of general work experience. Employee should also be licensed to drive in the metropolitan DC area. Must be able to pass an background check and get a security clearance
