The Senior Security Technical Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for the organization's security policies, procedures, standards, and processes. This role ensures that all members of the organization have clear, accurate, and accessible documentation to support IT security operations and compliance requirements. The Senior Security Technical Writer collaborates with IT and security teams to develop business-appropriate content and provides guidance on creating clear and effective written materials.
A successful candidate will have the expertise, and skills described below.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, Journalism, Communications, Curriculum Development, or Software/Computer Engineering.
- 2 years of experience as a technical writer, with a demonstrated ability to write clear and concise documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to write clear, user-friendly content for highly technical subjects.
- Strong understanding of information security topics and the ability to translate technical information for general audiences.
- Experience in writing and editing documentation for policies, procedures, and technical standards.
- Knowledge of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) principles and how to apply them to technical writing.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with API documentation and the ability to analyze and improve user-facing content using data-driven insights.
- Ability to effectively use analytics to improve user-facing content and applicant programming interface (API).
- Master’s degree in technical writing or a related field.
- Experience in teaching, grant writing, or scientific publishing.
- Certification from the Society of Technical Writers or similar professional organization.
- Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and previous experience in software development.
- Experience using XML tools to create and maintain documentation.
