Position Summary:

As a Driller you will work with a safety-first team to complete projects assigned. This position will operate controls while monitoring the operation of various equipment.


Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operating drilling equipment in compliance with standard procedures.
  • Ensures and completes proper rig up and rig down procedures in compliance with standard procedures.
  • Perform CP drilling operations using drilling rig and equipment.
  • Responsible for monitoring mud thickness, hole stability, and to keep a soil log.
  • Ensures the rig is stocked with essential materials and tools and completes regular checks.
  • Responsible for monitoring the progress of the drilling operation and determining when bits need to be changed.
  • Complies information and documentation for cathodic protection reporting.
  • Communicates with all levels of management, crew, and clients to effectively present any needs and changes.
  • Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines.
  • May be responsible to train the crew members to perform a specific assigned task.
  • Maintain and ensure all vehicles, equipment and supplies are accounted for, in working order, and in calibration (as necessary).
  • Download, organize and turn in data as required for the project and as required by management.
  • May assist with lifts and/or transports material or equipment to its proper location on the job site.
  • Uses a variety of equipment, and other materials to construct assigned projects.
  • Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of drilling job sites to include CDL A operations and cathodic protection installation and equipment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and email communication.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Management Responsibilities:

  • This job has no management responsibilities.


Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications):

  • Driller with 3 years of related experience.
  • CDL Class A Driver license with acceptable driving records.
  • Experience in Field Cathodic Protection Systems and Installations.
  • Experience in a customer service focused and safety-first organization.
  • High School diploma or GED, and three to six months related experience and/ or training preferred.


Environmental/Working Conditions:

  • Travel based role with three week on / one week off rotation.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate all machines safely.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in extreme temperatures and weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.


Other Considerations/Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically, often on short notice, and for extended periods of time.
  • Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires overtime/weekend/off-hours and very frequent travelling.
  • Must be able to travel up to 85% of the time.
