Role Overview :
The Fleet Manager will oversee the operations and maintenance of the company’s logistics fleet, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant vehicle usage. This individual will play a pivotal role in optimizing fleet performance, managing budgets, and maintaining relationships with vendors while ensuring the fleet operates reliably to meet business needs.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Fleet Operations Management :
Develop, implement, and enforce fleet policies and procedures.
Monitor inventory control to reduce vehicle downtime and maintain cost efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage invoices and payments.
Assess operational needs and recommend optimal vehicle utilization strategies.
2. Vehicle Maintenance and Repair :
Ensure vehicles are maintained and serviced according to manufacturer and regulatory standards.
Coordinate inspections, repairs, and routine maintenance with internal teams or external providers.
Monitor and report vehicle damages or misuse and implement timely maintenance plans.
Build and maintain strong relationships with fleet vendors.
3. Cost Control and Budgeting :
Provide budget recommendations and manage fleet-related expenses.
Forecast expenses, analyze variances, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Implement strategies to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce consumption.
4. Reporting and Analysis :
Maintain detailed records of fleet operations, including service histories, registrations, and insurance.
Analyze fleet data to identify areas for improvement and cost reductions.
Generate and present reports on fleet performance and recommend process improvements.
5. Team Leadership :
Lead and support fleet coordinators and supervisors to ensure operational tasks are completed efficiently.
Assign responsibilities, set goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages continuous learning and teamwork.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (startup experience preferred).
5 years managing last-mile delivery fleets of 200 vehicles across multiple locations.
Proficiency in Excel and Google Suite, with strong data analysis and visualization skills.
Experience negotiating contracts with fleet vendors (e.g., Enterprise, Penske).
Strong communication skills with the ability to build partnerships and align teams.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
