Position Overview
A leading mechanical contracting company is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to manage the procurement process, vendor relationships, warehouse operations, and equipment logistics. This role is essential in ensuring cost-effective purchasing, timely deliveries, and seamless supply chain operations across multiple projects. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and possesses strong negotiation skills to maintain and build supplier partnerships.
This position requires a hands-on approach to managing procurement activities, monitoring inventory, tracking expenses, and collaborating with project teams to ensure that all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available when needed. The Purchasing Manager will play a key role in maintaining financial accountability, optimizing vendor agreements, and improving overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Vendor Management
- Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, and tools to support construction projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements to reduce costs and ensure quality materials.
- Monitor vendor performance, address supply chain disruptions, and implement improvements.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
Supervise warehouse operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, and logistics.Ensure that inventory levels are maintained to prevent shortages or overstock situations.Track and manage large-scale purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and cost control.Oversee the tracking, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment.Implement best practices for tool and inventory tracking using the company’s management system.Financial & Budget Oversight
Assign appropriate cost codes and project numbers to all purchase orders and invoices.Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate billing, credit processing, and backorder resolution.Provide regular cost analysis and procurement reports to project managers.Monitor and manage tool budgets across all active projects.Logistics & Fleet Management
Coordinate the transportation and timely delivery of materials to project sites.Manage and maintain rental agreements for tools, storage units, office trailers, and man-lifts.Oversee the company’s fleet vehicle GPS tracking system, ensuring proper vehicle assignments, maintenance scheduling, and route efficiency.Project Support & Collaboration
Participate in project meetings to discuss procurement strategies, address material shortages, and provide budget updates.Work closely with construction and operations teams to ensure smooth material flow and address any procurement-related issues.Identify areas for process improvement in purchasing, vendor relations, and inventory control.Qualifications & Skills Required
3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in the construction or mechanical contracting industry.Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.Experience with purchase order systems and inventory management software.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.Strong attention to detail and financial accuracy.Benefits & Perks
