Overview
Integrity Environmental Solutions is seeking an entry to mid-level Field Technician in a growing company. The objective of the job is to support our ongoing environmental efforts to help landfills reduce pollution and greenhouse gasses by controlling the gas generated by the natural decomposition of garbage. Integrity is looking for a long-term employee to our growing Mid-Atlantic Region to provide support to our existing O&M team.
This position is an apprentice-style position where the skills and knowledge can only be gained through experience. As your skills and knowledge develop, you will have the ability to grow into higher and senior level positions. This position would service other landfills in Florida, and may have opportunities to travel to sites located in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi. and Pennsylvania; however, the primary location is in Orlando, FL. The position also requires manual labor, significant outdoor work, proficiency in effective communication and writing, and working alone.
This role’s primary responsibility is to monitor gas extraction wells on several active landfills within the state of Florida. A gas sampling device will be used to measure gas composition at each well so that the appropriate adjustment to the extraction rate can be made. The technician will be required to work outdoors approximately 8-10 hours per day, often walking several miles per day.
Other duties which will be required at times include:
- Use a gas monitoring/sampling device to monitor surface emissions from the landfills.
- Complete construction related tasks such as well raises and LFG system repairs, HDPE Fusion
- Clean, install, and troubleshoot pneumatic pumps throughout field
- Monitor gas wells with supplied instrumentation.
- Wear OSHA Level D and required personal protective monitoring devices
- Input, edit and interpret data collected in field and complete daily activity logs, checklists, forms, in Excel and Word
- Troubleshoot, inspect and repair equipment and machinery
- Operate small equipment (powertools, skidsteers, manlifts, etc.)
- Miscellaneous errands (equipment and vehicle maintenance and cleaning, equipment inventory, non-routine tasks, etc.)
Must Have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to push/pull/lift 75 lbs and walk/stand/bend/kneel/sit for long periods
- Valid driver's license with a clean MVR
- Travel is rare but occasionally expected
- Must be 19 years of age or older and eligible to be legally employed in the U.S.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle records check
Preferred Qualifications for this position include:
- Landfill gas experience or construction experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Sciences
- Experience working outdoors
