Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and capable Medical Assistant to join the medication management/healthcare team in our behavioral health practice. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting patient care within our clinic, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of service. This position requires an understanding of basic medical terminology and the ability to perform various clinical tasks, including taking vital signs and assisting in urgent care situations if needed.
Duties
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Prepare patients for treatment by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Instruct patients on administering nasal medication for a specific behavioral health treatment.
- Perform basic life support (BLS) as required in emergency situations.
- Assist with patient education regarding treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Support the clinic's operations by helping to manage appointment schedules and coordinating patient flow.
- Be able to complete paperwork required for patient prior authorizations with insurance companies. May require telephone calls to insurance.
- Collaborate with nurse practitioners and office staff.
- May be asked to check in or check out patients at front window, as well as collect co-pays.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; successful completion of a Medical Assistant Certification program.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and clinical procedures is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Ability to work efficiently in a small, but fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hiring.
- Previous experience working in a clinic or hospital setting is an advantage.
