Nestled in the heart of the scenic Finger Lakes region, our charming Colonial Inn & Creamery a 14-room boutique hotel offers guests a unique and unforgettable experience. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional hospitality, a relaxing atmosphere, and a delectable culinary offering, including our renowned homemade ice cream and wood fire, hand-made pizzas. We are seeking a passionate and experienced General Manager to lead our team and elevate our guest experience to new heights.
Job Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation and success of our boutique hotel and its food & beverage outlets. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in hospitality management, food & beverage operations, and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on manager, capable of fostering a positive work environment, driving revenue, and ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction. Please note that this area is very seasonal. During the winter season the General Manager may at times be the only one on property and will be required to do housekeeping and small maintenance items during the off season.
Responsibilities:
- Hotel Operations:
- Oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services.
- Ensure adherence to all hotel policies and procedures.
- Manage room inventory and maximize occupancy rates.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel.
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests promptly and professionally.
Food & Beverage Management:
- Manage the daily operations of our ice cream parlor and pizzeria, ensuring consistent quality and service.
- Develop and maintain food and beverage menus, including seasonal specials.
- Oversee inventory management, ordering, and cost control.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Train and supervise food & beverage staff.
- Maintain the quality of our homemade ice cream and hand-made pizza.
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and supervise hotel and food & beverage staff.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Schedule staff and manage labor costs effectively.
Financial Management:
- Monitor revenue and expenses, and implement strategies to maximize profitability.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
Guest Experience:
- Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction by providing personalized service and creating memorable experiences.
- Develop and implement guest loyalty programs.
- Respond to online reviews and address guest feedback.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the local area and provide recommendations to guests.
Marketing & Sales:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new guests and increase occupancy.
- Manage online booking platforms and social media presence.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses and attractions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hotel management, with a strong emphasis on food & beverage operations.
- Proven track record of success in managing a boutique hotel or similar establishment.
- Extensive knowledge of food & beverage management, including menu development, cost control, and sanitation.
- Experience with homemade ice cream and hand-made pizza production is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in hotel management software and POS systems.
- A passion for hospitality and a commitment to providing exceptional guest service.
- A valid drivers licence.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
