Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying patient insurance coverage, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date. You will play a crucial role in facilitating the billing process and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and managed care processes.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance information and eligibility prior to services rendered.
• Review and interpret insurance policies to determine coverage details.
• Prepare daily patient collection batch
• Maintain accurate records of insurance verifications and updates in the medical records system.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper coding (ICD-10, ICD-9) for services rendered.
• Assist in resolving any discrepancies related to insurance claims or patient accounts.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data security.
• Provide support to the billing department by supplying necessary documentation for claims processing.
• Assist front desk staff with phone calls as needed

Qualifications

• Proficiency in medical terminology and coding practices (ICD-10, ICD-9).
• Experience in a medical office
• Familiarity with managed care processes and insurance verification protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
• Previous experience handling medical records is a plus.
