Job Summary
We are looking for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team! Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are responsible for providing individually-focused compassionate care and assistance to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and / or mental health challenges.
The DSP will also encourage growth towards independence in activities of daily living, socialization, community involvement, and support in expressing choices.
The ideal candidate operates with a big heart, not only providing personalized and attentive care, but also building genuine relationships with those they serve.
You are detail-oriented, creative and committed to creating a healthy environment that meets client needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to succeed in this role.
Prior Direct Support or Home Health Aide experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Improve and respect the lives of individuals with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities
- Assist in the implementation of individual plans and behavioral plan goals
- Update individual case notes daily with feedback regarding the strengths, skills, and performance needs of individuals
- Help individuals develop appropriate social, behavioral, housekeeping, and daily life skills
- Assist with daily living activities, including preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene
- Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social, and community activities based on their preferences and individual goals
- Provide supervision and guidance for individuals during skill-building activities
- Assist and encourage individuals in the establishment of social networks
- Develop a rapport with individuals and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship
- Ensure individuals’ rights are protected
Qualifications
- High school diploma / GED required
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and acceptable motor vehicle record preferred
- Must pass Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check and drug test

Location
This position serves a client in the Lackawaxen area, Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
