JOB TITLE : CNC LATHE PROGRAMMER using MASTERCAM or FEATURECAM ( HAAS LATHES w / LIVE TOOLING )
MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF CNC LATHES AND HOW TO PROGRAM USING MASTERCAM & SETUP (HAAS LATHES)

REPORTS TO : MANUFACTURING MANAGER
CNC HAAS LATHE Machinist Job Purpose : Produces machined precision parts by programming and setting up, and occasionally operating a CNC LATHE machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; GDP’S; maintaining equipment and supplies.
CNC HAAS Lathe Programmer / Machinist Job Duties :
- Plans machining by reviewing job router, drawings, engineering spec's, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Prepares stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; verifying receipt of stock.
- Verifies work from prior machining operations to ensure conformance. If a nonconformance is identified, then advises Supervisor and notes router.
- Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards and production routers
- Maintain visual perception of a finished product and the ability to recognize an out of tolerance surface finish, burrs or any other machining defects. Maintain a high attention to detail.
- Performs in-process inspections and documents by completing Process Inspections procedure. Must be able to inspect own work using measuring instruments pertinent to the job.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Capable of working independent of direct supervision.
- Able to problem solve and make correction or adjustments to machining centers to ensure machining accuracy.
- Responsible for time stamping (Clock IN / OUT) all production jobs in ERP system. Clocks in and out of production jobs.
- Responsible for job updates including number of parts produced and nonconformance.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains a clean and organized work space; including empty scrap bins, wiping down equipment, tools placed in appropriate location.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; notifying Cell Leader or Production Manager when repairs are necessary.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests made by management; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
