Steel Shop Helper is a versatile role supporting the operations of both the steel yard and fabrication shop. This position involves assisting with material handling, organizing inventory, supporting fabrication processes, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM (Saturday's upon request)

- Load and unload steel materials from trucks using forklifts, cranes, or manually.
- Organize and stack steel materials in the yard by size, type, and inventory protocols.
- Conduct inventory checks, label materials accurately, and ensure proper storage.
- Perform basic maintenance on yard tools and equipment.
- Keep the yard clean, organized, and free of hazards.
Steel Shop Duties:
- Prepare materials for fabrication, including cutting, grinding, measuring, drilling and tapping.
- Operate basic hand and power tools such as grinders, saws, and drills, band saws.
- Support welders and fabricators by holding, positioning, or securing materials during work.
- Transport materials and products within the shop using forklifts or hand trucks.
- Clean and maintain shop equipment, tools, and workstations.
- Assist with assembly, finishing, or other fabrication processes as needed.
Qualifications:
- Must pass Background check.
- Previous experience in a steel yard, fabrication shop, or construction environment (preferred).
- Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment (certification is a plus).
- Basic knowledge of steel materials, fabrication processes, and measuring tools.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy objects (50-100 lbs) and working in varying conditions.
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and communication skills. Work Environment:
