Job Overview:
We are looking to subcontract skilled data cabling technicians with experience in phone systems, VoIP, IT racks, network hardware, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in structured cabling, IT rack installations, security systems, and point-of-sale (POS) setups.
Key Responsibilities:
✅ Install, configure, and troubleshoot VoIP phone systems.
✅ Perform IT rack installations and cleanups, ensuring proper cable management.
✅ Install and configure wireless access points and network devices.
✅ Deploy and troubleshoot modems, routers, UPS systems, and IT rack equipment.
✅ Set up and maintain self-checkout kiosks, security systems, and speakers.
✅ Conduct network cabling, testing, and site surveys to assess infrastructure needs.
✅ Must have laptops running Windows 7 or later for service calls.
✅ Work with low-voltage cabling for data, voice, and security applications.
Qualifications & Requirements:
✔ 2 years of experience in low-voltage cabling, IT networking, or telecom installations.
✔ Knowledge of VoIP systems, and other phone systems.
✔ Familiarity with IT racks, network infrastructure, and structured cabling best practices.
✔ Ability to install and troubleshoot wireless access points, modems, routers, and UPS systems.
✔ Experience with self-checkouts, security cameras, and speaker systems is a plus.
✔ Strong troubleshooting skills for laptops and Windows-based computers.
✔ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and network layouts.
✔ Comfortable working at heights and lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
✔ Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Recommended Certifications:
✔ WSIB (Workplace Safety and Insurance Board) – Must be in good standing.
✔ WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) – Certification required.
✔ Working at Heights – Certification for working at heights safely.
✔ Lift Certification – Must be certified to operate lifts (e.g., aerial platforms, scissor lifts).
✔ Data Cabling Certifications – E.g., BICSI or equivalent, or experience with structured cabling systems.
✔ Telecommunications Certifications – E.g., NCTI, CompTIA Network , or equivalent experience.
