Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our team in a dynamic, process plant environment. The role involves delivering engineering designs, documentation, and packages related to power and instrumentation installation for industrial plants. As part of the team, you will collaborate with the customer, offshore teams, vendors, and construction teams to ensure smooth execution and delivery of engineering deliverables. You will play a crucial role in the successful construction, commissioning, and startup of plant systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and engineering efforts for instrumentation, control systems, and power distribution for industrial plants.
- Collaborate with the customer to define the scope of work and deliverables, and coordinate with offshore teams to ensure all engineering tasks are completed on time.
- Develop and review detailed engineering packages, including Instrument Datasheets, IO Lists, Wiring Diagrams, and other relevant documents.
- Select and design control systems hardware for monitoring and controlling instrumentation.
- Support the construction and startup phases of the plant, providing expertise on electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Lead electrical startup of all process and packing equipment, ensuring proper integration and functionality.
- Work closely with vendors to procure materials and systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes (e.g., NEC, UL508A), and regulations.
- Conduct design reviews and coordinate with construction teams for approvals.
- Provide input and leadership during system commissioning and validation phases.
- Prepare and review procurement deliverables, including Material Requisitions, TBE, Purchase Requisitions, and Vendor Drawing Approvals.
- Interface with cross-disciplinary teams for P&ID reviews, 3D model reviews, cable tray layouts, and equipment layouts.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Instrumentation and Control Design Engineer in industrial plants.
- Expertise in the design and selection of instrumentation, control systems, and power distribution, including low-voltage (LV) electrical systems and motor control centers.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing control systems, PLC, and SCADA systems for industrial networks.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation, including preparation of Instrument Datasheets, I/O Lists, Loop Drawings, and Hook-Up Drawings.
- Familiarity with control panel design as per UL508A and compliance with NFPA70E requirements.
- Strong communication, project management, and vendor management skills.
- Experience with system commissioning and validation, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including NEC, and experience working in hazardous areas.
- Experience in interdisciplinary activities such as P&ID review, 3D Model review, cable tray layouts, and equipment layout preparation.
- Ability to effectively communicate and represent technical information in meetings and design reviews.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in FMCG or similar process plant environments.
- Familiarity with hazardous area instrumentation and systems.
- Experience in field instrument installation, cable tray layouts, and panel engineering.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel to the plant site in Alexandria, LA for hands-on project execution and coordination.
- Willingness to support both onsite and offshore teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
