Job Title: Facilities Technician II
Location: Scarborough, ME 04074
Duration: 3 Months on W2
Shift: 12-hour shifts (5:30 AM – 6:00 PM), rotating 3-day/4-day schedule
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine, periodic, and special inspections to assess equipment health and safety.
- Assist with packing, moving, and reconfiguring facility areas as needed.
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on facility equipment.
- Interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, layouts, and wiring diagrams.
- Complete and document routine maintenance tasks and work orders.
- Escort and assist outside vendors during contracted work.
- Maintain accurate records and inventory of spare parts.
- Respond to alarms or trouble calls promptly.
- Provide guidance to other technicians and team members within the Facilities Department.
- Develop a basic understanding of the Building Management System (BMS) to:
- Monitor equipment status
- Adjust equipment settings for maintenance purposes
- Change setpoints (as permitted)
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a similar field.
- Familiarity with formal preventative maintenance programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Degree in Mechanical, HVAC, Electrical, or a related technical field.
Competencies:
- Ability to evaluate work, define scope, and determine necessary procedures.
- Strong prioritization skills to effectively address problems and projects.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with a logical approach to troubleshooting and recommending both short-term and long-term solutions.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as multi-meters, manometers, and refrigerant gauges to identify root causes and implement timely repairs or upgrades.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate politely and provide status updates.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Strong coordination and communication abilities to minimize operational disruptions.
