Title: Mechanical Engineering Technical Leader
Location: San Jose, CA - Onsite
Duration: 10 months
Job Description:
- Design next-generation chassis and cards meeting system requirements.
- Conduct 2D/3D tolerance analysis for electro-mechanical assemblies using tools like CETol, spreadsheets, or similar.
- Develop innovative mechanical solutions (sheet metal, plastic, die-cast) ensuring EMI, safety, and compliance.
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings with GD&T using Creo or NX.
- Lead issue resolution with manufacturing teams and suppliers, collaborating on mitigation plans.
- Work with cross-functional teams (HW, SI, CAD, Thermal, etc.) to negotiate requirements and assess risks/tradeoffs.
- Partner with thermal engineers on cooling solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
fMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with 8-12 years of EMS design experience.
- 8 years in compute/network product design.
- Expertise in 3D MCAD (Creo/NX), static/dynamic analysis (Creo Simulate/ANSYS), and GD&T/tolerance analysis.
- Experience designing high-volume sheet metal.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in mechanical design for data center computer/networking equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing tooling for sheet metal, plastic, and die-casting.
- Proficiency in plastic/die-cast design and mechanism design.
- Familiarity with ECO, BOM, Agile, PDMLink (TeamCenter), and Model-Based Definition (MBD).
- Team player with strong collaboration skills.
