Intellectual Athlete (IA) is a mission-driven mental fitness company using sport psychology to build resilience and well-being in youth. Our evidence-based Play Built Resilience (PBR) curriculum has been validated through randomized control trials and is now being rolled out across Buffalo Public Schools and Boys & Girls Clubs of Western New York.
We’re hiring Mental Performance Coaches to deliver IA’s dynamic programming to youth sports teams, coaches, and school environments across the region. Work to begin Fall 2026
Your Role
As a Mental Performance Coach, you'll embed into real-world practice environments—guiding student-athletes and coaches through breathing, self-talk, and visualization in high-stakes moments. You’ll:
- Lead 1–2 sessions per week with middle school teams or BGC programs.
- Support coach and athlete development with practical, easy-to-use tools.
- Model mental performance strategies during practices, games, and "Morning Vitamins" sessions.
- Co-lead pre-season boot camps for coaches.
Ideal Candidate
You are passionate about sport, performance, and youth mental health. You bring a unique blend of movement-based instruction, mindfulness practice, and an ability to build trust with both students and adults.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in sport psychology, counseling, coaching, or a related field.
- CMPC or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience working in athletic or educational settings with youth.
- Skilled in mental performance tools (e.g., breathwork, visualization, self-talk).
- Confident communicator and team player.
