Middle School Literature and Composition Teacher 2025-2026 - Intellectual Virtues Academy (IVA)

This position is for a full-time, single-subject credentialed teacher with special interest and competencies in teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Literature and Composition for deep understanding of content and opportunities for thinking. IVA utilizes a curriculum that invites students into deep inquiry, collaboration, and hands-on learning. The Intellectual Virtues Academy Middle School Teacher is passionate about their content and holds educational beliefs and values aligned with an intellectual virtues approach and possesses and models the practices of intellectual virtues themselves. IVA’s mission, in its most basic form, is to help students experience meaningful growth in intellectual virtues in the context of academic teaching and learning. The teacher understands and promotes the school’s distinctive mission and vision and will faithfully implement and practice IVA’s unique character-based educational model. As a small school with a small and close knit educator team, IVA teachers work closely with their colleagues and other school staff to help shape a culture of thinking and a collaborative community of care.
