About This Role
As a Senior Database Engineer (DBE), you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing database systems critical to mission success. You will perform database administration, ensure database reliability and performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement efficient database architectures. With a focus on Oracle database environments and cutting-edge tools, you’ll have the opportunity to solve complex problems and ensure seamless data flow across systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily database administration tasks, including monitoring storage, performance, and RMAN backup verification
- Ensure standby DataGuard databases are functioning properly with minimal lag time
- Identify and resolve database performance issues and develop migration strategies between environments
- Support database design, development, implementation, and optimization activities
- Translate requirements into usable database schemas and assist in developing database structures
- Develop and maintain database models using tools like PowerDesigner
- Direct the development of complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity, and database storage/retrieval techniques
- Ensure database systems align with overall architecture and adhere to security, domain, and performance requirements
- Support system improvement, optimization, and maintenance efforts
- Provide on-call support on a rotational basis (1 week every 3-5 weeks after ramp-up)
- Required Skills:
- Oracle, Linux, SQL, and scripting
- Experience performing RMAN backups and verifying standby DataGuard databases
- Desired Skills:
- Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, RMAN backups, and Oracle Enterprise Monitoring (OEM)
- Relational database design tools such as PowerDesigner
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, plus 15 years of experience as a Database Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Five (5) years of DBE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
- Clearance:TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Citizenship:Must be a U.S. Citizen
