The Medical Billing Data Specialist is responsible for managing patient health records and performing data entry and administrative functions to ensure the smooth operation and continued success of the organization. This role is ideal for an individual who is highly detail-oriented, and will ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and timely updating of patient information across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
· Organize, update, and maintain patient medical records in systems such as Gehrimed and eClinicalWorks (ECW).
· Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards to protect patient confidentiality.
· Efficiently input data with a high degree of accuracy.
· Create and manage spreadsheets to track patient information and orders.
· Update and periodically audit patient data, including but not limited to demographic information and insurance, in the database accurately.
· Organize and maintain existing data records, performing regular database backups to secure data.
· Work closely with Medical Billing Specialist to accurately and efficiently process, research and analyze patient information for accurate billing and collection of necessary data for provider payroll.
· Collaborates in resolving billing issues and validating timely reimbursement from insurance providers.
· Corroborate and correct outdated or incorrect information through EMR systems such as Spot and Availity.
· Proactively engage with insurance companies to resolve denied claims, ensuring optimal revenue recovery.
· Operate office equipment like scanners and printers as needed.
· Retrieve and investigate information from files when required.
· Review data for deficiencies or errors and correct any inconsistencies.
· Assist with special projects requiring extensive data entry and/or analysis.
· Provide data entry support across departments as needed.
· Verify and complete missing insurance information daily.
· Other related data entry or administrative tasks as necessary
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
· Familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
· High level of integrity, transparency, confidentiality and professionalism.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
· This Position reports to: Administrative and Clinical Manager
· This role requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
· This role requires open availability to work overtime whenever it is necessary.
· The position is based in a standard office environment with frequent use of office equipment such as computers, telephones, and printers. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or training sessions.
Estimated Rate of Pay:
$15.00 - $17.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Salary : $15 - $17
