DB2 Specialist - only W2

Role: DB2 Specialist
Location: Harrison NY
Duration: Long term

Must have: DB2, SQL, and AWS

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Assessment & Analysis.
• Conduct an in-depth review of current DB2 databases (schemas, stored procedures, triggers).
• Identify any compatibility concerns related to DB2 on AWS RDS.

Migration Planning & Execution.

• Develop and implement migration strategies using tools like AWS DMS or custom scripts.
• Ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and robust rollback procedures

Performance Optimization

• Monitor database performance before, during, and after migration.
• Perform SQL tuning, index analysis, and query optimization to meet POC performance targets

Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication

• Work closely with the Cloud Architect/Engineer to configure RDS instances.
• Align migration efforts with application teams and provide status updates to project stakeholders

Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

• Maintain comprehensive records of configurations, migration steps, and performance benchmarks
  Provide clear handoff materials to support teams and assist in post-POC analysis

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 5 years of hands-on experience administering IBM DB2 (10.x, 11.x, or later).
• Strong understanding of SQL development, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with cloud migration concepts, especially AWS (e.g., RDS, DMS, EC2).
• Experience with backup and recovery strategies, high availability, and disaster recovery (HADR, log shipping, etc.).
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing performance and compatibility issues.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
