WHAT YOU’LL DO:
JOB SUMMARY: PECNA is looking to fill the Facilities Fire System Tech position -Level 3. The main responsibilities of this position include maintaining and inspecting all fire systems within the facility and assisting with a variety of facility operations and maintenance duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Operate effectively in a team of fire sprinkler, fire alarm, fire extinguisher technicians conducting inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on existing systems. Facility equipment and systems include, but are not limited to: fire alarm panels, smoke detection, heat detection, manual pull stations, horn/strobe components, area speakers, duct smoke detectors, smoke/fire dampers, mass notification systems, fire pumps, fire water tank, fire riser assemblies, fire sprinklers, position-indicating valves, fire hydrants, smoke/fire doors, fire resistant insulation, and other specialty systems.
- Complete all required inspections and preventative maintenance on various sizes and types of fire extinguishers.
- Assist with the completion of scheduled preventative maintenance, testing, and repair work for fire and life-safety systems, assessing for any deficiencies and requirements for corrective action measures. Ensure accuracy and maintenance of fire systems documentation.
- Quickly respond to queries, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues that arise from the field with engineering support.
- Provide input on lessons learned.
- Support production and facility systems inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
- Assist the local fire authorities, public agencies, and third-party vendors.
- Complete all training required for department duties and for all PECNA personnel.
- Participate in all required emergency response training and operations.
- Respond to site emergencies, coordinating with relevant teams and authorities.
- Communicate effectively with management and team members, providing updates and addressing concerns.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, and Panasonic policies, standards, and procedures.
- Depending upon workload, this position may be required to assist with other Facilities duties in addition to primary responsibilities for fire and fire life-safety systems.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) REQUIREMENTS:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

- Chem-Tech Hard Hat Required at all times, No Bump Caps due to Bump caps not being Cal-rated.

- Chem-Tech Flame Resistant Uniforms Required at All Times - these will be worn under PAPR and 40 Cal Suits
- Chem-Techs Safety Vest is required if the uniform is not available due to shipping.
- Fire-Techs/Chem-Techs, Required 40Cal Arch Suit when Zero Volt Verifying

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- A high school diploma, GED, or at least three years of experience as a Fire Systems Technician or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years of related work experience in relevant areas noted.
- Knowledge of building fire protection standards, system types (fire alarms, dampers, dry/wet, standpipes, fire hydrants, and fire suppression), sequence of operations, emergency procedures, and fire watch procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 years of related work experience in relevant areas noted.
- Related Trade school/vocational graduate; 2 years of trade school or equivalent.
- NICET Level I: Inspection & testing of fire alarm and water-based systems.
- Associate in a Fire Protection-related discipline from an accredited college or university, including degrees in engineering fields that are applied to the practice of fire protection.
- Examples include degrees in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, Fire Protection Technology, and Fire Service Administration.
- Examples of engineering fields that are frequently applied to the practice of fire protection include, but are not limited to, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Electrical engineering.
PREFERRED LICENSE(S):
- Current state-issued driver's license with a CDL.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATION(S):
- NFPA 70E or NFPA 70B
- OSHA 10
- HAZWOPER 8 or 24
- ICS 100
