College and Career Readiness Instructor - Substitute Status
Job Summary:
The Instructor is responsible for delivering the established curriculum to students in an engaging and dynamic, professional, and proficient manner. This position also assigns and facilitates activities in the classrooms, group projects, and lessons focusing on college and career readiness. The instructor will input attendance records, and utilize effective classroom management to ensure a successful learning environment.
Essential Duties:
Prepare for and instruct established and approved curriculum and lesson plans to students in a professional manner
Review and discuss syllabi and general course policy requirements at the start of the term with students
Answer all student questions as they arise to ensure student understanding
Ensure students are aware of safety policies and monitor for correct procedures
Maintain a professional demeanor within the classroom and mentor students on their professionalism
Manage and resolve student issues in the classroom as necessary
Engage students in all classroom activities, via methods such as dynamic presentation, effective communication and personal interaction
Ensure students are attending class and arriving on time, and resolve attendance issues as needed
Record student attendance and relevant student interactions in academic files within the database in a timely manner
Attend weekly and annual trainings to maintain currency in the field and continual improvement of personal teaching strategies
Work proactively with the Director of Education to manage student issues in an effort to improve student outcomes
Work interactively with students to ensure that they are reaching their educational goals
Setup classroom area for daily instructional activities including any equipment or materials needed
Recognize the need for additional student support and work with the Director of Education to create action plans
In conjunction with the Career Services department, assist students in all aspects of career preparation, including resume and cover letter development, job searches, company research, and interview skills

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
This position requires light work, occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds, while frequently lifting up to 10 pounds. Instruction requires standing for long periods of time (up to 5 hours at a time), expressing complex topics through speech, sufficient vision to write notes for instruction, and hearing to interact with students. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Working Hours
Hours include both instructional and outside administrative time. This position would be on a substitute as needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree in Organizational Leadership or Development, Education, Business Administration or a related field.
Experience: 1 years of experience in Life/Career Coaching, Leadership, Effective Time Management, Motivational Speaking or a related experience. 2 years instructor experience.
